Harold Miner, Florida TSA Executive Director
hminer@usa2net.net

Allow me to introduce myself. I am a retired (2005) classroom instructor, who has used the Technology Student Association (TSA) as an integral part of my professional life since 1979. During my 32 years in the classroom I found TSA to be the missing link between my class just being another class, and being an opportunity for growth and excitement.

I am glad that I continue to have opportunities to continue to work with and for TSA.  After I retired, I was the person in charge of the general sessions for the National Conference in Texas. It wasn’t long after that FL TSA approached me with the opportunity to serve as your Executive Director. One of my numerous responsibilities is to continue the growth of FL TSA, which fits well with my personality, since I strongly believe that every technology classroom in the nation. If you need questions answered or other help in operating your TSA Chapter, it is my job to help.  Please email (or phone) my office with your questions, concerns, and suggestions.

I look forward to the challenges of the new-year. I hope to see each of you at the Fall Leadership Conference (LTCC & ATW), and again at the State Conference.  With the state of the economy we have managed to book a hotel that will have a room rates under $100 for both the fall and the spring conferences.  We are also looking into the possibility of using a truck to transport many of the FL TSA entries to the National Conference next June in Baltimore.  Unfortunately we were not able to sustain the deep discount dues program of 2008-2009; however, we have been able to offer some incentives for early payment.  Please, we would really appreciate all Florida chapters to have affiliated by January 1, 2010.  Remember our state funding is partially dependent on the number of members we are able to report by March 1.  When our grant is reduced, we have no choice but to cut services or raise fees.  As usual, CAP affiliation does offer the best support of Florida and National TSA.  It does also provide more flexibility for chapters who are not really certain of exactly who may or may not compete at the state or national level.

I hope you are all able to realize your goals for the upcoming year.  Good luck in all your TSA endeavors.
